Booking Your Vehicle
This section covers the reservation process, what happens after you book, and how to make changes if your plans shift.
How does the booking process work?
You search for your dates and pickup location, compare listings from local suppliers, and select the vehicle that fits your needs. After entering traveller details and paying the advance online, you receive a confirmation by email with a voucher. The voucher includes the supplier's contact details and pickup instructions. The rental contract itself is between you and the supplier named in the voucher.
What if I need to change my booking?
Contact us at [email protected] with your booking reference. Availability and fees for changes depend on the supplier's policy and how much notice you give. Each listing has its own terms, which are displayed during booking and confirmed in your voucher.
Will I receive a confirmation?
Yes. Once payment is complete, you receive an email confirmation with your voucher attached. The voucher states the supplier's name, vehicle category, pickup details and any terms specific to your reservation. Keep this document accessible during your trip.
Can I book for someone else?
You can make the reservation and pay the advance for another driver. The person collecting the vehicle must meet the supplier's requirements and present their own documents at pickup. Check the voucher for driver eligibility and any additional driver fees.
Payment and Costs
Understanding the different payment stages helps you budget and prepare the right cards before you travel.
What is the advance payment?
The advance is paid online by card when you complete your booking on our site. It secures your reservation with the supplier. The remaining balance and any extras are settled directly with the supplier according to the terms in your voucher.
What is a security deposit and when do I pay it?
A security deposit is a hold placed by the supplier on your card at pickup to cover potential damage or traffic fines. It is not a payment unless something goes wrong. The amount and accepted card types are listed in each vehicle's terms and in your voucher. The hold is released when you return the vehicle without incident.
What does no deposit mean?
Some listings are marked as no deposit required. This means the supplier does not place a security hold on your card at pickup. It does not automatically mean you can use a debit card; the supplier may still require a credit card for identification or verification purposes. Check the individual listing for card requirements.
Can I pay the balance in cash?
Payment methods for the balance, extras and deposit are set by each supplier. Many accept cash and cards; the voucher states what is permitted. The online advance must always be paid by card on our website.
Pickup and Documents
Collecting your vehicle smoothly depends on knowing where to go and what to bring.
Where do I collect the vehicle at the airport?
Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport has the code MRU and is located in the southeast of Mauritius. Pickup arrangements vary by supplier; do not assume that a terminal desk or shuttle is provided. Your voucher gives the exact instructions and contact number. Confirm the details with the supplier if anything is unclear.
What if I want hotel delivery?
Hotel delivery is a separate arrangement. When searching, choose your hotel or resort area as the pickup location. The listing will show whether the supplier offers delivery there and any related fee. The supplier coordinates the handover time directly with you after booking.
What documents do I need at pickup?
You will need your driving licence, passport and the credit or debit card used for the advance or listed as acceptable in the voucher. The supplier may also require an international driving permit depending on your licence's country of issue. Check your voucher and the supplier's terms for specific document rules.
What if my flight is delayed?
Contact the supplier using the details in your voucher as soon as you know about the delay. Most suppliers will adjust the pickup time if they have advance notice. If you miss the window without contacting them, the reservation may be treated as a no-show and the supplier's cancellation terms apply.
During Your Rental and Return
Know what is expected when you drive and when you bring the vehicle back.
What fuel policy applies?
The most common policy is full-to-full: you receive a full tank and return it full. Some suppliers use other arrangements. The fuel policy is stated in the listing and your voucher. Keep the final fuel receipt if required by the supplier.
What happens if I return the vehicle late?
Late return terms depend on the supplier. A short delay may incur an extra hour or day charge; a long delay without notice can result in a no-show fee for the next booking. If you need more time, contact the supplier as early as possible to request an extension.
Who do I contact if something goes wrong during the rental?
For issues with the vehicle or questions about your rental terms, contact the supplier directly using the number in your voucher. They manage the contract and can authorize repairs, provide roadside help or clarify coverage. For booking or payment questions, email us at [email protected].
